Lemon Garlic Shrimp: Throw thawed, peeled shrimp in a skillet with 4 cloves of minced garlic,1 tbsp.butter, 2tbsp olive oil, 1 tsp. salt,1/2 tsp. oregano, pepper to taste, 1/2 tsp. parsley. 2 tbsp.lemon and 1 scallion chopped. Cook in skillet until shrimp turns pink, but not too long or they'll be like rubber.
Serve with pasta(I just use one of those packages of lipton side kicks, creamy garlic raffaello) and then a ceasar salad.
It's pretty quick and I get lots of compliments on it.

Thanks daff! This sounds SO good!! Too bad I'm the only one in the house that likes seafood, but I'll bet the smell of this would win a person over!

You're welcome. Actually, I was making it once when my sister dropped by and she would never eat seafood until she tried that.
Now, it's her favorite.

I DON'T BITE...well, maybe a little...

This is the best chicken recipe I've ever tasted! I think it's called Japanese Chicken

Boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1 Egg White
Flour
3 tbsp Soy Sauce
3 tbsp Water
½ Cup Vinegar
½ tsp salt
1 Cup Sugar

Cut up the chicken in whatever size pieces you want. Dip the chicken pieces in egg, then in flour. Fry in a buttered frying pan until brown.

Take out your favorite casserole dish and mix together soy sauce, water, vinegar, salt and sugar and stir well. Add the chicken to mixture.

Cook in a 350° oven for one hour. Take it out of the oven, remove chicken.

Dissolve 3 heaping tbsp of flour into one cup of water and add to liquid in casserole dish. Cook the sauce on stovetop until thickened. Add chicken back to mixture. All done!

I usually serve it over white rice. Yummy!!!

Vegan Egg Substitute for baking!

For each egg needed, place in a blender:

1 Heaping tablespoon of whole organic Flax seed
Blend until it becomes a fine meal
Add 1/4 cup of cold water
Blend 2-3 minutes until thickened and has the consistancy of eggs.

Each 1/4 cup of this mixture will replace one egg in baking.

*This work great, I have used it alot of things, especially recipes that already have alot of grains in them.

I'm wondering if anyone wants to contribute their favorite quick & easy meals.
You know....the ones that earn more praise than the effort spent.

My favorite is spaghetti, no real recipe....kinda some of this and some of that.
Lots of garlic! And brown sugar and pickle juice are the secret ingredients for lots of compliments.

Ok, I'll bite! What kind of pickle juice? I'm guessing sweet mixed pickles or maybe icicle pickles? Bet with the juice and brown sugar you get a sweet and sour effect? Do you use a little or a lot?

Oh! Dill pickle juice! Gee, I wish I could taste your spagetti sauce - must be really amazing. Wish you did have a recipe for this to share...

Sounds kind of like when I make chilli. I throw in onion, chili powder, garlic, tomato, cumin, salt, pepper, beans and sometimes cinnamon and cocoa powder. (Some people even use chocolate bars!) I prefer to use a tough cut of beef cut into little cubes instead of ground beef. After its all done, I like to serve it up with shredded cheddar cheese and chopped sweet onion on the side.

Maybe I'll try a glug of dill pickle juice and a bit of brown sugar in the spag sauce next time. I've tried adding a little molasses (as in the fresh tomato sauce in the Crosby's book) to my sauce and felt it adds a nice flavor and complexity.

Thanks dewcat for pointing out the other thread in Chit-Chat for posting recipes. Here's a direct link to that thread: http://www.goldfishlegs.net/bowl/sh...p;goto=lastpost

Would close this thread if I could. Maybe I'll move it. chasm, if you want to open a Freebies thread just for freebies related to recipes and cookbooks, I guess you're welcomed to do that.

Dave.

Okey-dokey. Thanks for moving things around and cleaning things up, you control freak you. Rest assured, the next time I want something in the Freebies forum moved I'll private message you instead of Costa. Keep your mailbox clear.

To stay on topic:
1. Cut strips of bacon into inch-long pieces
2. Fry in a little bit of EV olive oil
3. Beat raw egg and mix into cooked spaghetti (al dente of course)
4. Add bacon pieces with the oil and fat to the pasta and mix well
5. Top with red pepper flakes and parmesan or romano cheese
6. Die from a heart attack

Dave.
