My oldest son turned nine today!

We are going to do out for dinner, and I thought that he would think it was cool to get his birthday dinner for free. I know of come cheap places that do things like that (Denny's?), but I would like to get a list of better places that also offer such deals.

Thanks,
Rob

For dessert, Baskin Robin's used to have free ice cream on your birthday... I think they still have it.

In toronto, Tuckers Marketplace (used to be called Mother Tuckers) had free dinner on day of your birthday. I've never gone on my birthday yet. But you do need proof of your birthday. It's a good deal for adult birthday since it costs more than for kid. I assume applies to kids too. Food is buffet and pretty good. Don't know if you have them out west. Call them to see if birthday deal still around.

Some restaurants may offer free dessert if you tell them it's his birthday. Mandarin restaurant in toronto used to take your pic and put in a frame and stick a candle on a piece of cake from their buffet. And sing to you. I think they stopped the frame but still do a pic.

At the very least, family restaurants will get their staff to sing happy birthday while they bring dessert with a candle in it. Not sure if dessert is always free. Best to call ahead.

I used to go Mother Tuckers in Ottawa for the free birthday dinner. There is one in Calgary on 10th Av between 2nd and 4th streets. It isn't a really fun place for kids though. I would think that Moxies, Earls and places like that would give a free dessert, (Earls always used to). They sing to the birthday boy too.

but the tuckers in toronto does have a small buffet just for kids if they're not interested in adult buffet. i think there are a lot of sweets in the kid's buffet though. but they're not restricted. you can go to adult station or kid station.

In Calgary:
Mother Tuckers and Dunn's Famous deli (good food) at the Crossroads hotel (Radisson now) give free meals. Denny's doesn't offer that anymore. The Dunn's place there's no limit to the amount of $ your entree is. That's all i know of in Cowtown. Most places will give him a free dessert. I see someone said Applebee's does that too, Calgary has one now near SilverCity theatre in Country Hills, maybe check that out. Good Luck...Bon Appetite!!
Update: Just called Applebee's and they don't give free meals, just a sundae, Dunn's and Mother Tucker's still gives a free meal and incase you didn't know Humpty's has free kid's meals every Friday. Not sure of the age restrictions though.

If being a mom was easy, a man could do it. Edited by blondie on

Thanks, everybody.

I have a feeling that he will want to go and get a Chinese Buffet (kids eh?), since it's his birthday, he gets to choose!

It was a good conversation starter, so I'll give him a couple of choices. Baskin Robin ice cream might get him interested, though!

Thanks!
