Recently I read in another thread people making fun of someone for wearing clothes(white spandex)that they felt was inappropriate for someone who is overweight. Do you think this is okay. Am I the only one who thinks it is unkind and uncharitable to speak ill of someone behind their backs (or even to their face) I like to imagine that they are a friend or love one and how would I like my mother/sister/etc. treated or talked about that way. As most of my family and quite a few friends are very overweight it could well have been my sister or a friend.

I agree with you plumlucky...I don't care if I see myself in that thread or not, I don't think it's right to laugh at other people. But that's just my opinion.

Actually I am not taking it as a personal attack. I am just really curious if most people think this kind of behavior is not only okay but normal and right. Are my values and morals really so very different than most peoples. I just thought the bowl was made up of really nice fun caring people

I agree with PL... I don't usually make fun of other people for the fun of it.

I see it as a weakness: many people make fun of others to make themselves feel better about themselves. Most of the time without realizing why they are doing it.

Lastly.. I am through with these kind of threads that make others feel like they are inferior b/c of someone else's opinions And the others who know that they are not perfect ( no one is ) yet holding a comment or thought agains someone who was simply talking about something that occured that day.

No large group of people is made up of "really nice fun caring people". There may be a few on either end of the spectrum, but most are in between.

I understand how things can get carried away and that it doesn't make you a bad person, I could also have been a little more diplomatic in the way I phrased things. I didn't really need to mention the spandex thing in either of my voting threads so enough said time to let go.

Ugh.... ok, I learned something new today:

If the original question refers to another thread, everyone will ignore the question and harp on the other thread instead and it will become a big mess without any direction or focus. No matter what I say.

So, I'm going to have to make sure the initial question is very specific and doesn't refer to anything else from now on.

I love learning new things. (not being sarcastic)
