well on a honest note, I guess trying to have the proper diet consists of many things, our bodies need so much fat, as well as so many other things to survive, fast food sure I love it, in moderated amounts I hardly think having fast food once a week is gonna kill anyone opr cause death for that matter, my point is everything we eat and I mean everything has some kind of chemical or process it goes through to keep it fresh and safe, even fruits and veggies are sprayed with pesticides and we think washing the skin of it is gonna get rid of it wrong, it grows into the fruit, and meat has to be engineered to be edible, fast food yeah I am for it, super sizing yeah I am for it, but one thing I have yet to meet the perfect mother or father who does not allow some sort of happy meal or anything in there kids diet, not to mention the drink boxes we put in there lunches, second ingredient sugar, any lunch meats monosodium glutamate or sodium nitrate, well if I spent as much time reading labels of food then i guess I really have to much time on my hands!!!and not enough time to eat...

Interesting you consider some the comments in the other thread rude? I was called everything from Martha Stewart to not a real woman and a kept woman because my hubby and I made a life choice and I do not work. Frankly I find that incredibly insulting and uncalled for.

Again, to reintroduce an earlier comment that always seems to be lost.

Of course, nobody is perfect. But that doesn't given you an excuse not to try. It was especially evident in the last thread that the belief among the pro-junk camp is that because you cannot have absolute control over something, you must be lead by the nose.

If you do your best to aspire to perfection, the instances where you let yourself down will not be nearly as damaging to the overall picture as they will be if you give up and let yourself be lead, resolving yourself to a constant life of failure.

For a bunch of liberals, you are surprisingly black-or-white in the way you consider things. But, this is the same attitude that inspires poor decisions, credit card debt and general disorder in a shell that appears outwardly together.

I'd like to make the point that working outside the home and providing nutritional food for your kids is not mutually exclusive. My mother worked and yet put a very high emphasis on nutrition and home cooked meals, only cracked wheat bread, no pop or store bought cookies and stuff and lots of apples and carrot sticks for snacks. in fact CSK's mom reminded me of my own mom, although i was allowed to go to mcdonalds occasionally, we used to go sometimes after swimming lessons, and i would have pancakes or chicken mcnuggets, didn't like fries when i was a kid.
I think it's important to instill proper nutrition and eating habits in your kids as they're growing up, they will take it with them for the rest of their lives, and i think it's possible to supply healthy food 90% of the time without that much forethought and time if you make a bit of an effort and make it a priority. but the occasional trip to mcdonalds isn't going to kill them

ok I agree with a little of of some of what each of you have said.
I think its unfair to say giving a child a burger and fries now and then is child abuse. I think a lot of you have been unfair to CSK's mom thats just her way of life and I'm sure she has made sacrifices to live this way for her childrens sake. This is just my opinion but I did not have my kids for someone else to raise so in order for me to stay home I have made some sacrifices.Just because I don't always agree with the way MY neighbor (this is true ) raises her kids doesn't mean it's wrong. PS IT TOOK ME DAYS TO TYPE THIS WITH ONE FINGER

One never knows what's in eggrolls do they?

snagglepuss, it seems your feisty debating style has prevented you from reading my original posting. I said 'real' Chinese food - as in what real Chinese families eat at simple Chinese family restaurants.

Actually, I agree with you - you have every right to feed your kids whatever strikes your fancy, but you really need to calm down - don't you realize that mbg is only 12 short letters away from msg!!!

Just remember to keep your comments on the topic, not on how a particular person raises their kids, what they eat, what their crap smells like, or anything else relating to the poster.

Debate the issue; not the person voicing the opinion.

Good nutrition and eating habits are critical to a childs physical and mental development. As a parent, its my responsibility to ensure that I provide nutritional meals for my children. Working outside the home has nothing to do with whether or not I provide a healthy meal for them.

I can tell you, most times when I ask my children what they'd like for dinner, its certainly not from a fast food outlet, its mamma's (or grandma's) home cooking.
