This is a request for the hottest deal ever: Helping people in need .
My wife is Cuban and she lives outside the regular tourist areas where the visitors from Canada or Europe bring their gifts to the local population. If the situation in these regions is not good it gets worst when you move away from the privileged regions and go deeper into this beautiful country.
I do whatever I can to help my family there but recently I was asked for assistnace from people in this remote village and I try to find a way to help them out.
I was impressed by the scarccisity of Vitamins and all kind of other drugs there.
If you are willing and can help with medicinal donations please contact me to get this thing started. All the donations are going to be delivered by me and my wife to the local Policlinic and distributed by a Doctor.
Please leave instructions inside and check the expiration date before you send anything.

I am concerned that if you attempt to bring an assortment of prescription drugs across borders for which you do not have a personal prescription, you may find yourself in a great deal of trouble. I have had to show my prescription in the past to take my own medication across a border.
Or are you looking for vitamins and over-the-counter preparations like aspirin etc. If so maybe you could get more info on what is needed, since certain vitamins etc. are less useful than others?

Have you tried asking local restaurants (even and especially franchised ones) for assistance?

I'll go this weekend and talk with a Doctor to see what's missing. I don't think that the Canadian Customs really care what you're taking with you as long thei're not controlled substances (Morphine).
I do this for people in Guaro, Province of Holguin , and not for myself or my family for which I can provide without any problem.

I was impressed by one man who needed Vitamin C for his daughter and the doctor could give him only 10 pills (a three days supply). Over there there is nothing in the Pharmacy and any help is appreciated at it's true value.
Cuban Customs allow medications (again not controlled substances) to enter the country without any restriction in weight just because they aknowleged the problem they face and that any help is welcomed.
Usually the Humanitarian Aid goes in big cityes straight to Hospitals which is a wonderfull thing but it doesn't reach small comunityes like the one I'm talking about.

I know I jumped the gun on this thred but there is no reason NOT to see who I really am . Take a look at Goldfishlegs Team against Cancer and see my humanitarian contribution before you draw any conclusions.

I am judging you based on your current behaviour, not your past history - besides I would support your grassroots initiative to help individuals whom you know have a specific practical need. I would never support any cure for cancer, as it is almost completely a profit motivated scam and worse a distraction from the fact that cancer needs to be prevented not cured. I suggest you quit while your ahead, and I will do the same based on GoldfishLegs suggestion.

and is says often not allways favorable. In the context it was used as "not favorable" but I don't like to use words like horrified to describe the situation when a father can't get even the basic medicine for a child altough it is a horrible situation.

How about the people who where just dignosticated with this disease ? Should they be told to save money for funeral ?
How can you prevent a disease with unknown origins ?
I had three cancer related deaths in my close family. My grandmother was vegetarian , never smoked a cigarette in her life , never touched alchool and lived the whole life in a small village with practically no polution. She died of stomach (gastric )cancer

It is sad that you would never support any cure for cancer, for all you know you or someone close to you already has one form or another. Of course prevention is important, but what about children and others who did nothing wrong and are suffering?
