Here is one suggestion I've seen for a slow mypoints site in order to get Max

For MS Internet Explorer:
Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced:
Show Images - UN-check
Show Image Placeholders - check
In this case page loads in seconds even on slow
connection and MAX appears as a floating transparent
rectangle.

Netscape users, you're on your own

Max is in Books/Media for 5 points and is slowwww as molasses.
