That is so funny because I had just watched a episode of Judge Judy where the one sister cashed a check for her other sister because she was told that she had won the lottery and the bank that the cheque was cashed the cheque had told the other sister that it was a scam and the cheque was not real, where the other sister had sent money to these people from western union and now the other sister was out 3000. So beware that these scams are out there!!!

I just received an email from "Your Gift Card Now" offering 4 free movie tickets.

I don't remember signing up for this group and don't want to click on their links to find out more if it is a site that might be a scam.

Did anyone else get this offer?

Just wondered if anyone has ever won anything from child.com, I enter these all the time because sometimes they have really great prizes, but I don't think they ever display their winners list so it is hard to know if it is worth it. I imagine mostly US residents win.

I am new to contesting (I entered my first today!). I have many questions. First of all, I hope this post comes up in the correct place. I am intending to post in "contest help".
So, if you don't mind, here are my questions: When you win a contest and they say they'll administer STQ at a mutually agreed time etc.. How does that work? How much time do they give you?
I'm nervous about this because math has never been my strong suit. Actually I just read a post in which someone was asking an answer to a STQ. The replys were not the same as the answer I got!! Yikes! Someone posted that they should Google the question. How would I "Google" the question?

Does anyone know how they pick the winners? I mean, do they print out all the entries and put them into a big barrel? (I hope this
isn't an extremely dumb question).

This depends totally on the people administering the contest. Sometimes they just ask you the question in an e-mail/release form that you have to send back and other times they do it over the phone.
When they do it by phone they will give you time to write it down and they will repeat it for you. Usually they will give you a certain amount of time but my advice would be to keep a calculator by the phone in case. Most times (not all-there are always exceptions) the question is really easy.

How they pick the winners also varies and is often spelled out in the rules.

i was very lucky with my first contest win...he asked me the STQ on the phone and i messed it up three times
he's like..erm no thats not the answer, just try again...i was like OMG i'm SOOO nervous..he laughed and said he could tell!!!
most of the phone ones were not timed but the one with pepsi i think is (but am uncertain to that as i've never won lol) and the one with the icoke says that if you win, and dont answer the stq, then the next time you login it will ask you the q again (and then i thnk that one is timed the second time)
most of the stq's i've had to do were on forms they either snailed out to me or sent via attachment in an email

I need advice. I called into the local radio station today and won a CD and DVD. However the announcer wouldn't give it to me because of a 30 day policy. I won another CD last weekend. However I have won on there before, the secretary told me herself a while ago that you can win as much as you want and that there is no such policy. No such policy listed in the contest rules either. Should I fight for my CD/DVD? I cried all the way home, because I had been trying all weekend and then finally got through. All radio stations have this kind of policy some barring entry for a year. I recently won a trip on one and cannot enter for prizes on that radio station until a year. I think it is fair and standard, sometimes the contest rules are hard to find but hidden somewhere in menus. It is a good policy to have as it is fairer and probably safer ==I hear some entrants calling in from their cellphones while driving!!! Others have speeddial and I think that is another reason for them to have these rules. 30 days is actually much less restricted time duration than that of some radio stations. I once won a cd in a magazine contest and never received it and they blamed it on canada post so didnt feel they had to replace it. These are the ups and downs of contesting!!!

Most stations have that rule so that people aren't winning all of the prizes. It's in #9 of their rules:


No more than one Grand Prize will be awarded to any person within any calendar month.

I'm sorry that happened to you and you wasted your time. I think I would talk to the secretary and see what she says. I am not going to sign up to view the rules but it looks like it's stated in there. If it wasn't before, and you have a print out of the rules, you could bring that in. Otherwise, it looks like you'll be out a CD/DVD.

They can't just assume you the 30 day thing, it has to be written in the rules or at the very least, told to you when you won the first time.

See the weird thing is that I have been listening to this radio station for over a year now. I typically win a prize a week with them and never had a problem. Heck, they don't even ask for my address anymore. Would a CD be considered a grand prize? when they say calendar month, since last weekend was November and its now December does that matter? Sigh. I plan on calling the radio station in the morning. It was the secretary that told me that they don't have a 30 day policy implemented...

I was wondering. I won the gagou tagou contest and I remember on the entry site it had a picture of stuff i can't wait 6-8 weeks for delivery and was wondering if anyone remembers the link to that contest.
