Wow!!
I've never heard of this! Sounds very cool!
Are there any restrictions on spending them?

Thanks for the list!

Typically there are no restrictions on spending the loonie dollars. I got into this deal last year, my first time, and it was pretty cool as I spent it all on DVD's.

First of all, the lineup to buy the loonie dollars is usually long. Expect to wait at least an hour. So if doors open at 9am, get to the lineup by 8am. Other wise they may sell out, and they often do.

Plan to buy a full $250 worth, which is actually only $172.50 in cash. You can buy lees, but that doesn't make sense to me, unless I know I'm not going to spend the full amount.

I almost got into an argument last year with someone in line as he was convinced that you couldn't pay the taxes with these loonie dollars. I disagreed, and said these are basically like gift certificates and each participating store treats them like cash.

I still beleive I'm right, and the place I spent them, treated them like cash. He might have been right too, as where ever he purchase may have required him to pay the taxes with 'real money'

That's about it.

I've got some DVD's on my to buy list, and I've been looking for a new 3 and 5 wood, so this has come at a great time.

Thanks for the extra info Wall Man
When you say......they'll sell out, do you mean that only a certain amount are sold per day? Or all loonie dollars for the entire promotion will be sold out in the first few days??

The loonie dollars are only sold on those two Saturdays and only between 9am - 1pm.

There's only $250,000 sold per day, and I think that is divided amoung the 3 locations.

Not really. If you shop carefully, you can get some great deals. For example new release DVDs, A&B can be pretty cheap already, but factor in a $0.69 loonie, and that makes it even better.

Riverside golf has always had very good prices to begin with.

I wonder if you could combine loonie dollar purchases. For example I purchase the limit, and so does my wife, then we go and look to spend the full $500 on one item. Let's say a couch at Lay-z Boy.

I guess I'll have to call the number and find out.

Thanks for posting this man. I got them last year, and it would've slipped under my radar if I didn't see your post. I got my full $250 and plan on getting more in 2 weeks. Thank god it's A&B and not CNL this year for DVDs...
