Hi all,

I was just wondering about all the contests I've entered both online/offline and the chance of actually winning something. I personally have never met anyone who's won a contest.
I've also wondered about the online forms we fill out, how do they get selected? When you enter a contest with an actual ballot and mail it in or drop it off in a designated box then at least the ballot is in its physical form.
Also these surveys and market research panels I'm on have never brought me any winnings either.
I guess I'm just not a very lucky person.
I only enter contests for things that I know I'd use or I need if I actually won.
Has anyone ever won like a car, furniture, a trip, a good chunk of cash, appliances etc?

No person was honored for what he received - Honor has been the reward for what they've given!!

I've won a couple of trips and last year won $1100 worth of small appliances along with miscellaneous tickets for movies, events, etc.

I know there have been lots of big wins in the bowl.

You're not unlucky... just waiting for your good luck to come along. It will.

I quess the old adage is true:if you don't enter, you can't win. Personally I originally did it for fun.Won a lot of little things at first and hit it big when I won a trip to Las Vegas(which I am taking in May) and a $500 GC.There are other people who at GFL have won big prizes.Off-line Ihave won a few things as well.So keep plugging away and your turn will come.

If cats could talk,they wouldn't

Sure have! Check out the Hey I Won Something thread on here. Lots of winning fishies. Including me. I won an all inclusive trip to Veradero Cuba worth $4500.00 and a hoover floormate. As far as online forms, I believe they have their computer choose the winng e-mail address, But I could be wrong.

That's great, I guess it's just a matter of not giving up on entering contests.

Your odds of winning vary depending on the number of entries they receive. I have not won anything large but smaller contests for books and DVD's seem much easier to win, especially if you have to answer trivia questions. I have won several of this type of prize in the last few months.

I agree with the other fishies that posted...Keep trying and you have nothing to lose!! The other bowl members' wins have convinced me to do internet ones. I was hooked on mail-ins and had some good success. (5 trips, speakers, concert tix, movie passes, CDs etc...) I don't do anything special but ENTER! Someone has to win! I have had some good success with internet ones as well...still waiting to win a car! heheh All you have to lose is a bit of time, but think of the thrill when you win!! (And your day will come!) the only drawback, which I dont mind, is junk mail...but that usually has more contests/freebies!!

Good luck fellow fishies! Keep checking the "i won something" thread for inspiration!!

I have had great luck with mail ins over the years. There seems to be less of them now that on line contests are popular.

Even though I am faithful to enter the online ones daily, I have never had a winner. Do they really give you an entry for every time you enter or is your address only recorded the one time?

Does any one know if the "no auto entries" applys to the automatic fill in the blanks that my computer does for some contests?

Good luck
Milkmaid

In answer to your question..YES..enter..enter..enter. I have won MANY MANY prizes both online and by snail mail. I have been doing this now for 18 years..and I've won many wonderful prizes, from trips to shopping sprees, to many other fabulous wins. WHY? Because I enter on a continual and daily basis, and keep doing this even when not winning..why? because I do believe we make our 'luck' by working at it. Do the work..keep at it..be patient, be persistent, be consistent, and persevere!..I truly believe that if you do the time on line contests and spend the money on the postage costs for snail mails...and keep doing it..all the time having fun, dreaming about the prizes and keeping optimistic..just do the work and you will eventually win too! it's been proven by many many contesters. Everyone's turn comes at some point in the winning department. Hang in there..and keep at it..that's my 'winning strategy' for you. I hope this helps..;-)) scraps

Hi milkmaid. Yes..I do believe each time you enter if you can enter every day in a particular online contest & the rules state you can do that....you will get an entry each time you do enter. Last year I won 75 prizes online..but I do them every day like clockwork. If the contest's rules state only one entry per person etc..do not do it more than the once..or you will be disqualified. I have been told by other contesters that the 'no auto entries' does not apply to the automatic fill in that your computer does..this is a decision you only can make for yourself....but I have been using this and have had no problems with wins. I hope my info helps you and best of luck! ;-)) Scraps

Thank you for your reply and all the replies up to now from everyone. I will keep trying everyday until I do win something regardless of its value.
It would be great if there were contests to win a job lol.
That would be great but unrealistic of course.
Thanks again and congrats to all the winners.

Actually, now that i think about it...What keeps me going is that once I enter the contest I try to forget about it. Then if i win its a surprise. Otherwise I tend to agonize over the fact that i entered this and that and never won. I just consider it a hobby like anything else.

I love the thread where ppl can post their wins. it keeps me inspired! Especially those who won sunny trips lately!! Congrats and good luck to all!

Wow, scraps, you're a pro!!
Last year (and I only started with the contests last year) I won 17 prizes - no biggies but some nice stuff like jackets, boxes of candy (3 different types, holy smokes) and various movie passes, cosmetic stuff, office supplies, etc. Only one of those was from an offline (in store) contest.

I agree, you will win eventually and I feel like I am spending more "productive" time entering contests online than I would be watching tv... at least there is some suspense involved!
Good luck to us all!

Emily
