Hey Everyone........Im new In the Bowl!!

Newbies...including....me...I just received a scam contest...and dummy me has already sent my nformation to them...just name and address...I have reported this to a place....abuse at rackforce

I just wanted the other newbies like myself to be careful...I did play some instant lotteries on line last night...and received and email saying that I had won a large prize of money and that I was picked because of my email address and my numbers had been drawn...I can post the email here...if admin will allow it or I can forward to them via PM to warn others of this...

This email also tells you not to tell anyone, as I have seen alot of us newbies here...this is a reminder to be careful of such contests..how they ever managed to pick up my email address i will never know..

I was playing Money Balls and Tombola last night and had done about another 6-7 freebies....

So if you know anything about this please post so us newbies will be aware in the future...

go to contest section....if you want to post one yourself..just ..go to the very end to the latest posting that someone has done..( or if it is for freebies..go to that section etc etc ).. ..hit REPLY/QUOTE at the bottom. right hand side of that post..then .log in with your password etc..then DELETE all the info in that space and post your new contest etc..if you want to respond to a post..then leave the message there..I hope this helps?

You just look through the posts in the freebie forum and if someone posts a link to something you are interested in then you click on the link and fill in the company's request form.

If you are looking for free stuff manufactured by specific expensive brand names then you will be out of luck. Most freebies are samples of new products that companies give out to introduce new products like shampoo, face cream, detergent etc. NO major designer clothing lines give out free samples.

WELCOME!

Click on "My Bowl" (orange button at the top) then go to "My settings". Change to automatically log in to "no". That should do it.

Welcome to the bowl.
Don't worry-you just have to be patient. Because of strain on the server we have a posting delay in the "free" section. Your posts will show up in a while, the length of time depending on amount of activity in the bowl.
Before we instituted this delay we often had problems with members being unable to log on to the bowl.

I just wanted to pop in and say Hi. Its nice to find this site. i lookforward to reading alot. thank you.

hi i am new. i work at zellers and i had a customer come in with a LOT of coupons that were all things like "$5 free of nestle products" etc. i asked her and she told me to come to this site and ive been looking and looking and do not see where she got them from. she said she filled out a couple surveys and then got the coupons in the mail. where can i fill surveys out like that??

Welcome to the Bowl Ericthered! This is a great group of fishies here. If you can't figure out how to post click on the purple "help" button at the top, right side. It is very useful. It's how I learned how to do things here.

Yes, I have noticed quite a bit of lag. Usually when I post, it comes up like 45minutes later lol

I think the moderators have to approve a message before it goes through

so if they are away, it takes a little time to get approved.

it's better than having all the spam go through

By entering this Contest, each entrant consents to the use of his/her name, city of residence, photograph, voice and/or image for any promotion/publicity and programming purposes, commercial or otherwise, in all media used by the Sponsors, their promoters, advertising and promotional agencies, without any payment or compensation.

Is this common and it I can understand it applying to the winner, but to every entrant, it sounds like an invasion of privacy. They can use your name, address, etc and give this info to their promotional agencies.

Does anyone have a comment or info about this?

Ozzie, it doesn't imply they will "give this info to their promotional agencies", what it says is that they have your permission to publish your name and city if you win. This doesn't mean they will publish your phone number or sell your email for spam, just that they will publish a winners list. It also means that if you happen to win, say, a trip to meet and greet a rock star at a concert that they may publish photo of you at the event WITHOUT PAYING YOU FOR THEM.

Frankly, I would be suspicious of any contest that does NOT publish a winners list - I would wonder what they are hiding....like maybe all the winners are pals of the v.p. of marketing. And I think NOT being paid for use of your image and/or comments is a small price to pay when you win a trip worth $25,000.
